Located in the fully open Waldorf Astoria Hotel plaza, this Christmas Village had to withstand harsh winter cold, rain, and snow, all while accommodating massive foot traffic. The core landmarks, the “Carousel Bar” and the “Transparent Starry Dome,” faced immense challenges regarding structural load-bearing capacity, wind resistance, and frost protection.When selecting materials for this outdoor holiday commercial display, the project team discarded conventional, fragile options. All large wooden cabins (such as the Iceland and Finland-themed huts) and the interior of the bar utilized custom thickened, hot-dip galvanized steel as the primary load-bearing framework, ensuring absolute structural stability.

For the Starry Dome, we selected highly transparent, impact-resistant aerospace-grade polycarbonate (PC) solid sheets. This not only provided 100% protection against the cold outdoor air but also guaranteed absolute safety for guests relaxing inside. Concealed counterweights were integrated into all bases, perfectly resolving safety concerns related to outdoor wind resistance.

As a top-tier luxury hotel brand, the Waldorf Astoria demands the highest standards for textural details. Achieving a premium French luxury metallic sheen for the Carousel Bar while giving the Nordic cabins an authentic, snowy solid wood texture posed a major challenge for custom commercial space VM.

At the factory level, we applied a “graded surface treatment process.” For the gold roof and borders of the Carousel Bar, we strictly followed the brand’s exclusive Pantone color codes, applying a multi-layer automotive-grade eco-friendly baking paint process. Through repeated sanding, priming, painting, and the application of a high-gloss protective clear coat, the structure reflects a highly sophisticated, dazzling radiance under the night lights. For the Nordic wooden cabins, we selected anti-corrosion wood with natural grains, treated with an eco-friendly distressed coating. The “snow accumulation” on the roofs was crafted using high-density artificial snow paste combined with special carving techniques, realistically recreating the heavy, soft texture of fresh winter snow and achieving a 100% visual reproduction of the original design.

The difficulty lay in arranging complex starry light strings, warm window displays, and the bar’s contour lighting while maintaining a minimalist Nordic style—ensuring all cables were perfectly hidden so visitors could experience the glow without seeing the fixtures.

During the implementation of this immersive themed environment, the team pre-cut all concealed wiring routing slots at the factory. A unified 3000K-3500K warm white LED lighting scheme was used throughout the venue, creating an incredibly cozy winter fairytale vibe. For the finishing details, whether it was embedding strip lights along the eaves or adorning the Christmas trees with light bulbs, we utilized invisible clips and custom edge banding.
