Landing at the West Bund Dream Center dock, this custom HR (Helena Rubinstein) ocean-themed event prop installation served as the core experiential scene for the first stop of HR’s “Little Dewdrop” Radiant Life national tour. Using an ocean yacht as its creative centerpiece, the project built the “Little Dewdrop · Radiant Cruiser” immersive pop-up space. A professional prop factory managed the entire execution chain—from detailed design and production to on-site installation. By tackling customization challenges across four core dimensions—structural safety, premium craftsmanship, visual fidelity, and execution efficiency—the team successfully delivered an ocean-themed brand activation scene that perfectly matched the prestige of this high-end luxury skincare brand.

1. Structural Safety & Factory Pre-Assembly: Building a Solid Foundation for Large Custom Props

As a large yacht-shaped custom prop measuring over 12 meters long and nearly 6 meters high, the project faced two major challenges. First, the overhanging structure of the upper flybridge, combined with a highly trafficked pop-up environment, demanded exceptional load-bearing capacity and anti-sway stability. Second, the riverside venue had restricted access channels and spatial limitations; a traditional single-piece prop could not be moved in, making the precision and structural risks of on-site assembly difficult to control.

To solve this, the factory adopted a layered structural approach: an “internal load-bearing steel frame + external modular finishes.” The main framework was welded using national-standard galvanized square steel tubes. Through mechanical simulation calculations, diagonal reinforced supports were added to critical stress points, such as the flybridge overhang and the entrance pathway. This elevated the overall structural load-bearing standard to 1.5 times the industry norm while meeting the Level 6 wind resistance requirements of the riverside location, ensuring visitor safety and durability throughout the event. To completely eliminate structural risks during on-site setup, the factory executed a 1:1 complete pre-assembly before shipping. All splicing joints and load-bearing sections underwent a 72-hour static load test to correct any modular splicing errors or structural deviations in advance. Upon passing inspection, the entire structure was broken down into 8 standardized transport modules. Each module was marked with a unique positioning code and installation interface, resolving the venue’s size restrictions while minimizing the cost of trial-and-error during on-site assembly.

2. Material Craftsmanship & Finishing Details: Polishing the Exquisite Visual Texture of a Luxury Brand

As a top-tier luxury skincare brand, HR has stringent requirements for the texture and precision of its event props. The smoothness of the yacht’s curved surfaces, the gleam of the metal fixtures, and the purity of the white finishes all directly impact the communication of the brand’s tone. The core manufacturing challenge lay in seamlessly processing custom curved surfaces and ensuring consistent joint finishing across multiple materials, including fiberglass (FRP), metal, and wood.

For the main body, the team utilized a high-density, one-piece fiberglass molding process. The yacht’s flowing curves were accurately reproduced using high-precision CNC molds, which were meticulously polished three times to ensure a grain-free, seamless finish. To address gaps between modular splices, automotive putty of the same material was layered and finely sanded multiple times to achieve a flawless, seamless transition on the exterior. Metal components, such as the perimeter railings and decorative dewdrop spheres, featured 304 stainless steel with a titanium plating process and an 8K mirror polish, delivering a uniform, light-luxury metallic texture that perfectly complemented the refined ocean theme. For junctions around portholes, deck edges, and entrance door frames, an embedded installation paired with color-matched cosmetic silicone sealant completely hid screw holes and splicing seams, achieving a “visually uninterrupted” look. The surface was finished with an automotive-grade matte white paint, strictly following a three-coat, two-bake process. Both paint adhesion and scratch resistance met commercial-grade standards, easily withstanding high-frequency visitor interactions and outdoor environmental tests.

3. Color Calibration & Visual Fidelity: Achieving Highly Unified Brand Visuals

The precise unification of brand visuals was the ultimate acceptance standard for this HR custom event installation. The project involved various base materials—including fiberglass, stainless steel, and wooden display cabinets—each with significantly different color absorption and reflection rates. This easily leads to the issue of “same color code, different visual effect.” Furthermore, the stark contrast between the factory’s indoor lighting, the riverside venue’s natural sunlight, and the stage’s ambient lighting could cause on-site color discrepancies compared to the original design.

To overcome this, the project team used the brand’s official Pantone color codes as the absolute baseline, creating separate color samples for each base material. Fiberglass received a white sealing primer before topcoat tinting; metal substrates were adjusted for plating thickness and surface gloss; and wooden materials underwent moisture-proof sealing. Every round of prototyping was tested for color variance inside standard D65 light boxes to ensure all props met professional-grade color consistency. Additionally, during the factory pre-assembly phase, the team constructed a simulated lighting environment to replicate both daytime natural light and nighttime stage lighting. The matte finish of the paint and the reflectivity of the metal parts were repeatedly fine-tuned, ensuring the props delivered a visually brand-compliant experience under any lighting condition. Ultimately, the overall design achieved a 96% visual fidelity rate upon the brand’s on-site inspection.

4. On-Site Installation & Time Management: Efficient Delivery in a Commercial Venue

Located in an actively operating riverside commercial center, the on-site construction window was strictly limited to 3 days. Props had to be moved through public corridors, and our team had to coordinate parallel workflows with multiple third-party vendors handling lighting, audio, and brand operations, creating immense pressure on site management and installation efficiency.
