As a professional custom commercial display and prop manufacturing factory, we undertook the fabrication and installation for this IP co-branded project at Taikoo Hui. We were fully responsible for the production and on-site assembly of the large-scale custom art installations, including the giant dinosaur sculpture, the illuminated crown, and the accompanying scaffolding scene props, while the client independently provided the overall creative design. The massive dinosaur sculpture presented significant challenges: its complex, irregular curved surfaces and outdoor placement subjected it to high wind loads, making the modular joints prone to cracking and deformation. Furthermore, the graffiti-style hand-painted color blocks featured intricate edges, increasing the risk of color bleeding and deviation during batch painting, while the extreme height made hoisting and precise alignment highly difficult. To overcome these hurdles, we engineered a load-bearing skeleton using thickened galvanized square steel tubes, added a weighted base, and completed comprehensive wind-resistance structural calculations. We utilized modular prefabrication for the large-scale outdoor sculpture, reinforcing the joints with internal steel plates and applying seamless edge-sealing techniques.
This entire experiential retail pop-up execution relied on meticulous finishing and layered custom lighting fabrication. The seams on the dinosaur’s teeth, dorsal spines, and crown outlines underwent multi-layered sanding for a flawless, hidden finish. The crown featured built-in integrated LED modules, while the scaffolding facade strip lights and exterior neon ambient lighting were equipped with independent electronic controls. This ensured a perfect replication of the trendy graffiti art style both day and night, fully meeting the visual merchandising demands of the commercial art event.
