As a professional source factory for exhibition displays and pop-up store prop construction, we faced a monumental challenge while undertaking the “Sophy” (思菲其) exhibition project: transforming a dynamic, bionic spinal column structure from design blueprints into reality. The core complexity lay in ensuring the intricate hexagonal honeycomb texture on the surface remained seamless across high-curvature surfaces. Simultaneously, the massive “S-shaped” cantilever structure demanded rigorous internal load-bearing engineering—balancing a visually lightweight, ethereal aesthetic with the absolute stability and safety required for a high-traffic exhibition environment. This project served as the ultimate test of our craftsmanship and structural engineering capabilities as a custom event prop manufacturer.
To overcome these challenges, we utilized high-density polyurethane (PU) foam combined with CNC precision carving. Through parametric modeling, we deconstructed the complex curved surfaces into hundreds of individual modules for precision machining, perfectly replicating the delicate texture of 3D printing and the specific, warm luster of the required color palette. Structurally, we employed non-standard custom steel internal skeleton technology. The primary load-bearing points utilized reinforced national standard square steel welded into an invisible truss, supplemented by high-strength aerospace-grade aluminum to distribute weight. A rigid, weighted base connection was installed to ensure the installation’s safety and stability. Furthermore, we conducted a rigorous 1:1 full-scale pre-assembly process, where every bionic decorative element underwent meticulous hand-sanding and seamless finishing, ultimately achieving a high-fidelity realization of the design and demonstrating our superior delivery capabilities as a premier pop-up shop display and fabrication specialist.
