In the Macau shopping mall theme animation IP exhibition props customization project, our factory, as the art props manufacturer, is responsible for the entire chain execution from material selection, process realization to on-site construction and post-maintenance. Faced with the high restoration requirements of classic IP, we chose high-strength resin composite materials to build large-scale fiberglass sculptures to ensure smooth character lines and delicate texture. For the booth structure, we used flame-retardant density boards + UV high-definition inkjet printing to take into account color saturation and fire compliance. Especially in the face painting process, we abandoned industrial spray painting and instead adopted a manual multi-layer coloring method to accurately restore the iconic mustache and bald texture of the big sweet potato to avoid a cheap look.
Structural safety and interactive experiences are our top priorities. All independent sculptures over 1.5 meters long have a pre-embedded galvanized steel pipe skeleton and fixed counterweights. The corners are rounded and soft-packed for anti-collision treatment. The acrylic light boxes and neon strips use low-voltage cold light sources to ensure that children are not at risk of burns in close contact. In view of the color difference and joint problems that are prone to occur in retro Hong Kong-style walls, we conducted multiple overall pre-construction tests at the factory stage and developed a special seamless splicing buckle system to make the wall as smooth as if it were cast in one piece after on-site installation. The lighting debugging also adjusted the fill light angle according to the top light environment of the mall to ensure that the character’s expression is vivid and free of shadows when looking up, achieving 1:1 high-fidelity restoration.
The effect of the project has far exceeded expectations. According to data from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and other platforms, related topics have been exposed more than 48 million times, a single short video has been viewed more than 8 million times, and project-related group photos uploaded by users accounted for 73% of the total. On YouTube, the search popularity of keywords such as “Macau shopping mall exhibition art” and “art installation prop customization” increased by 400% month-on-month, and the total number of related video discussions reached 22,000.
